The Problem

Over 50% of Panamá’s primary forest has already been lost. The Darién Gap is a main source of the country’s biodiversity with a plethora of endemic and endangered species. Its preservation is vital.

The Solution

The only way to combat the climate crisis is through the unification of indigenous peoples and the resources of wealthy nations. We must focus the planet’s protection less on the hope of technology in the future but rather on the hands of the guardians on the ground.

Priorities

  • Endangered Tree Species

    Habitat restoration begins with endangered tree species. We believe that putting these species at the base of our restoration work is integral to true biodiversity.

  • Primary Forest Preservation

    Connecting new forest with primary forests solidifies pathways for animals and plant species to return. Without protecting intact primary forest, maintaining biodiversity is impossible.

  • Indigenous rights

    The indigenous peoples are the stewards of the forest, without land rights the forest cannot be protected. Their guardianship and involvement in our project is at the forefront of everything we do.

  • Land conservation

    Conserving land to protect and monitor in perpetuity is the ultimate goal. The creation of Indigenous ownership of parks and conservancies free from economic exploitation is necessary for our survival.
